Apparently the guy has done some serious work, but the main things I’ve seen him in were the Mitchell & Webb sketch shows and Peep Show.
It’s not actually a done thing that he’s the new Doctor anyway. He’s just one of several names being bandied about. He’s actually already been in Doctor Who before, toward the end of the Ninth Doctor’s series, playing an utter prat trying to get Rose killed on The Weakest Link. If he suddenly got cast as the Doctor that would make for some weird reinterpretations of that episode.
