The (relatively) new site design

Yeah I know it’s not really new anymore, but I’ve been too busy getting sued to notice.

Anyway I just wanted to say it looks slick Jeff, but I kinda liked the bit with all the common tags in font size relative to their popularity. Even though it’s a massive web cliche, I thought it provided a fun and thought-provoking overview of the site’s culture to any newcomers foolish enough to stumble our way.

Thorts?

T-shirt | RoboDildo | v1.0

First print onto light colour with black ink. This is the final design for the RoboDildo shirt, picture and quote on the front, url on the back.

If there’s one thing that I must stress about these shirts, it’s that they are hand printed. They will have little imperfections. They won’t have the sharp definition of machine printed shirts, but as long as you guys are happy to have a few unique prints I’ll be happy to keep doing them and letting everyone share the love.

First shirt is ok, could be better

I made a shirt!

Next time I will learn from my mistakes. Next time I will:

  • Use a darker positive
  • Expose for less
  • Use a high pressure stream to clean the screen
  • Not lift up the screen only to put it down in the wrong spot (shadow effect)
  • Buy RED paint instead of HOT FUCKING PINK

I’ve got the whole process over at Jeffbrew.

Screen printing can be complicated

In the spirit of T shirt fever I decided to go out and get myself a fabric screen printing kit. I knew it wasn’t a simple exercise because people wouldn’t use those godawful inkjet iron-on transfers if it was easy, but I wasn’t prepared for the jars of drawing fluid, screen fluid and photo emulsion. Of course, you only need to use these in certain situations; you can skip the photo emulsions if you just paint the pattern on. But if you are going to do something, you might as well do it as complicated as possible right? RIGHT!

Logo!

Honestly, I was heaps bored after i got home from work and I was thinking that the big AJ needs a logo of some description, so i made one in about 3 minutes with a generally basic idea.
I think that some of you crazy photoshop types should make one!
